Adaptable Navigation Systems Take on an Urgent New Importance
Early on June 17, the USS Fitzgerald frigate collided with a commercial container ship off the coast of Japan. Seven Fitzgerald sailors were killed. As with most at-sea ship accidents, improper vessel navigation was at least partially to blame for both of these tragedies. But there’s a developing technology that will help to avoid those accidents in the future.
