After nearly two years of the most recklessly loose monetary policy in history, the Fed letting its foot off the gas pedal may feel like slamming the brakes. We have a new set of factors driving investors’ actions: uncertainty unleashed by the Russia-Ukraine war, related financial sanctions, and skyrocketing commodity prices. All these factors give value to the put options we focus on in Crash Speculator. For now, Dan gives guidance in this month’s portfolio review.

Your August Portfolio Update

There is no action to take today on our positions. However, we are anticipating an exit from several of our trades in the coming weeks. Scott will discuss details in this month’s portfolio update along with a recap of one trade we have exited already at a great profit! Watch the video here.

August Portfolio Update

It has been a challenging August thus far for our portfolio. One important factor in deciding how much to pay for options is the volatility premium that gets factored into options prices. Our BFAM trade was set up with this in mind. Also, our Live Nation (LYV) put spread, which still has two months until expiration, is looking good. For now, Dan gives an update on all the open positions currently in the portfolio.

January Portfolio Update

January is off to a good start for targeted bearish trades, like those we make in Crash Speculator. Thus far, the indexes and large cap stocks have held up. But that could change in first quarter earnings season. If management attitudes about 2022 are cautious, many stocks could fall substantially. For now, Dan gives guidance on all open positions in the portfolio, including one position expiring on January 21.
